PURPOSE


Under direct supervision, operates basic saw types such as Chain saws, Bunk Saws, and CNC Beam saws to cut Engineered Wood products according to work orders.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Operates basic saw types such as Chain saws, Bunk Saws, and CNC Beam saws to cut Engineered Wood products according to work orders.

  • Reviews work order to determine cut(s) to be made.

  • Adjusts saw for required cuts.

  • Adjusts speed of saw and feed rolls.

  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trucks or customer vehicles and installs strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.

  • Drives various lifting devices (e.g. forklift) to move products, equipment of materials around the warehouse, shop or yard.

  • Performs load-building, determining the appropriate weight, composition, and placement of load based on customer order and capacity of delivery vehicle to ensure load is balanced and safe for hauling.

  • Conveys materials to or from storage to designated area using hand truck, electric dolly, forklift or other devices.

  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales or other containers so as to provide correct identification of items.

  • Other duties as required.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • Requirements: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and three (3) months experience performing these or similar tasks; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Forklift Certification required.

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to read at tape measure at 1/16 inch.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

  • Must be able to identify species, size, and grade of lumber.

  • Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 100 pounds.

  • May be required to lift and carry, with assistance, up to 200 pounds
