WAVE is currently hiring an Assembler to join our team!

This position is responsible for supporting production of custom aluminum products by working in a team or independently to precision fabricate, cut, assemble, and join components. Make parts to specification from blueprints/ drawings and complete the project in a safe manner.

General Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow written and verbal work instructions
  • Plan details of cutting/joining project to meet blueprint/technical drawing specifications
  • Inspect equipment, materials, blades and tools and make necessary adjustments
  • Cut material (straight or mitre) according to specifications from blueprints/technical drawings
  • Drill, countersink, and deburr holes for bolts, screws, and other fasteners
  • Measure components and finished project/product using a variety of measuring devices to ensure correct dimensions within required tolerances
  • Align, fit, and join parts, for proper fit and assembly using rivets, screws, adhesive, or bolts using hand tools or power tools
  • Join material using adhesive and clamps
  • Visually inspect components and check against blueprints/technical drawings
  • Place finished project on racks/pallets for clean/bag and pack/palletize
  • Troubleshoot machinery, material, saws, measuring equipment and tools to make necessary adjustments
  • Complete required documentation
  • Weld and maintain welding equipment, supplies and machinery
  • Maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner; use proper lock-out procedures during repairs or machine adjustments. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and make certain that all safety equipment is in proper working order.
  • Perform these and other related duties as assigned or directed.
  • Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture.

Measures of Effectiveness; including, but not limited to:

  • Safety - OSHA rate, compliance to regulations/policies, evidence of risk reduction, engagement in 8-Step Safety Process, near-miss reporting
  • Quality - Customer claims, quarantined product, ability to recognize defects and implement corrective actions through visual inspection while machine is in operation
  • Productivity - Changeover time, PE%, downtime %, troubleshooting, CMMS activity, work orders
  • Communication - Shift handoff and line preparation, Gemba, kaizen event participation

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred; familiarity with machine shop safety and equipment operations
  • Able to lift a maximum of 40 pounds
  • Able to stand 8-10 hours per day at assigned work area
  • Background check required
