How You'll Perform the Role

  • Continuously perform all required tasks in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures. Must take immediate action to correct and/or report any unsafe conditions and hazards. Follow GMP in compliance with all food safety requirements.
  • Utilize lockout/Tagout as required, following established policy; ensure guarding is in place at all times.
  • Keep work area clean and organized, per standards.
  • Ensure that work is being performed in a manner to produce quality products, according to our quality requirements and specifications.
  • Follow all applicable food service policies and procedures.
  • Meet production targets as set by management.
  • Inspect bags for flaws in quality, assembly, print, or other problems, and reject those that do not meet standards set by management.
  • Place the proper amount of bags into the sleeve in the press.
  • Inspect bales to ensure they are sealed properly and meet quality standards before banding together and placing them on the skid.
  • Band bales together.
  • Place labels on bales, making sure they are marked correctly, neatly, and upright.
  • Spot check bales to make sure the correct amount of bags are enclosed (i.e., 250, 500).
  • Place acceptable bales on skids by using proper lifting techniques.
  • Ensure the machine is shut off to prevent machine damage in a timely fashion.
  • Must keep up with budgeted machine speed.
  • Keep accurate production records, ensuring all required forms are filled out completely, accurately, and legibly.
  • Safely strip rolls down, removing the liner and/or bands and removing minimal layers of damaged paper only to minimize waste.
  • Change roll, make splice by hand, maneuver roll into position, and adhere roll to the web on the machine.
  • Make minor repairs and adjustments to machines as necessary to ensure quality levels, coordinating with Adjuster Supervisor as necessary.
  • Set up one and two-color prints and have them approved by Adjuster Supervisor before starting the production run.
  • Start machinery and watch progress for breakage; notify Adjuster as needed.
  • Clean ink pans and wash rollers.
  • Thread up machinery properly.
  • Meet or exceed the waste targets for each machine.
  • Meet/achieve safety, quality, production, waste, and housekeeping goals set forth by management.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

What We Need From You

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Three years of factory experience is preferred.
  • Must have basic reading, math, and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to make adjustments and minor repairs to machinery.
