The Lead Contract Negotiator will lead contract negotiations with vendors in a manner that achieves business objectives and manages organizational risk. The Lead Contract Negotiator will work closely with business partners to ensure business objectives are met in the contracting process. This position will require familiarity with organizational positions on contract issues, industry standards, healthcare regulations, and business dynamics. This position will require a high degree of autonomy with appropriate support from the managing attorney.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Leading contract negotiations with vendors including independently reviewing, redlining, and negotiating various commercial agreements consistent with organizational policy, risk tolerance, and applicable law
  2. Preparing and updating contract templates, playbooks, and policies consistent with Northside contracting standards and industry best practices
  3. Gathering information from and communicating with internal business partners as necessary to appropriately review and negotiate contracts
  4. Communicate effectively and professionally with team members at all levels (including management and executive leadership)
  5. Maintain productive workflow in a fast-paced/high contracts volume environment
  6. Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Five (5)epts and formats, contract law and remedies, and experience drafting and negotiating contracts ranging from vendor agreements, service contracts, ancillary documents, amendments and boiler plate forms.
  2. Experience supporting attorneys and adapting to diverse working styles and requirements of attorneys, as well as maintaining confidentiality of projects and sensitive information.
  3. Electronic contract database management experience within a legal and/or compliance services environment.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including SharePoint, Word & Excel and contract comparison software such as Workshare.
  5. Ability to multitask with a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, competing contracts at a high volume, tasks, and details concurrently.
  6. Exceptional problem solving, analytical, lateral and critical thinking skills.
  7. Detail-oriented, capable of issue-spotting and following through on tasks.
  8. Willingness to work on-site.

PERFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related discipline including business, procurement, or healthcare.
  2. Previous in-house experience with a healthcare system or healthcare vendor.
  3. Familiarity with laws and regulations applicable to health care organizations.
