Job Description

Bariatric Innovations specializes in providing general surgery and bariatric surgery to the residents of Atlanta and the surrounding areas. Our expertise covers gastric band surgery for weight loss, as well as comprehensive medical weight loss programs incorporating calorie control, activity, and lifestyle education.

This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of weight loss and bariatric medicine with a diverse patient population. This role will primarily support the Sandy Springs location on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and our Duluth location on Fridays, with additional support at our Cherokee & Duluth twice per month.

In this role, you would be traveling between locations with Dr. Jyoti Manekar. Dr. Jyoti Manekar is a board-certified family and obesity medicine specialist with more than 15 years of experience. She provides specialized care for overweight and obese patients to combat the growing obesity pandemic, the leading cause of numerous illnesses and increasing healthcare costs. Dr. Manekar uses a multidisciplinary approach to help her patients to get to their best weight. Some of these tools include nutrition, physical activity, behavioral modifications, medications, and surgery as needed. She firmly believes in creating personalized plans for each of her patients to target their unique needs.

Prepares and implements nutritional care plans for adult and geriatric patients in accordance with departmental policy and standards of care. Initiates supplements, snacks, calorie counts and consistency changes as part of the patient's individual medical condition. Incorporates current evidence-based research into clinical practice. Acts as a liaison between the Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, and other Ancillary Departments. Responsibilities involve providing nutritional counseling to adult and geriatric patients, families, and others as requested.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  • B.S. degree in Foods and Nutrition, and Dietetic Internship or equivalent training.
  • Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association.
  • Current licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Georgia.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  • Two (2) years experience in clinical dietetics with broad areas of expertise preferred.
