Job Description
Printpack is seeking a Corporate Health and Safety Specialist. This position will report to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Director. Using your expertise, you will develop standards, conduct internal audits, consult on projects and equipment purchases, share best practices, and implement Printpack's Health and Safety programs in areas such as shop floor safety, construction safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, VPP, emergency response, fire protection, and other safety management programs. You will help the manufacturing processes and businesses identify continuous improvement opportunities, prioritize them, and then provide guidance on the execution of plans

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a culture focused on safety through implementation of safety strategies and programs across the organization
  • Provide oversight of corporate governance for occupational safety, designing and implementing approaches, plans and programs for safety compliance, including VPP
  • Provides leadership to incorporate innovation, leading edge industry concepts, and new technologies for safeguarding employees
  • Act as a technical expert on legal matters & legislative trends related to occupational safety, including assisting with any OSHA inspections, visits including recordkeeping and OSHA investigations
  • Partner with sites to conduct incident investigations and drive employee participation
  • Lead integration of Safety considerations and compliance into design, engineering, and construction in project work
  • Develop, distribute, update, and provide training for safety programs
  • Lead periodic internal EHS audits/assessments for each site and provide assistance in implementing needed changes in order to achieve acceptable results on all evaluations and assessments
  • Conduct industrial hygiene surveys, ergonomic surveys and trains plants in appropriate requirements in these areas
  • Oversees emergency response activities and support site's emergency response teams
  • The position requires travel of up to 50%

We Value:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or science disciplines
  • Seven (7) or more years of manufacturing safety experience
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Health & Safety Official (CHSO), or other similar safety professional certification
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and VPP
  • Working knowledge of engineering, operations, and safety standards is preferred
  • Experience in writing technical standards and procedures is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to implement safety programs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (bilingual)
  • Use of innovative thinking to create continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical skills, preferably with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Record of progressive EHS experience with significant experience in manufacturing
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft 365; familiarity with Power Bi desired
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to effectively listen, build rapport and communicate at all levels; someone who is confident sharing ideas and can be a trusted advisor for workplace safety
  • The ability to recognize and resolve situations that are ambiguous or challenging, focus effort on meeting or exceeding goals, and pave the way for efficiency
  • The knowledge of how to make an impact and deliver presentations that inspire and influence change
  • Versatility to roll with the punches and don't get overwhelmed easily; thriving in constantly changing environments

Physical Requirements and Environment:

  • Ability to work in a high-hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to a hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a manufacturing facility with high-hazard materials
