The Georgia State University Office of Sponsored Programs is currently recruiting a Research Financial Officer. This position furthers the mission of The Office of Sponsored Programs by managing budgets, financial documentation and human resources transactions.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual bills and invoices. Ensures proper documentation of required cost sharing. Reconciles accounts to the General Ledger and the awarded budget or contracted rates. Monitors expenditures and transactions on assigned projects. Monitors assigned projects for financial compliance with applicable Federal, State, and University laws, policies and procedures and recommends appropriate solutions to maintain compliance. Reviews monthly accounts receivable and aged receivables and coordinates with sponsors. Prepares and submits quarterly, annual and final financial reports as specified in award documents or contracts.

Establishes sponsored awards in the financial system according to award guidelines and specifications. Completes project closeout activities.

Contacts sponsors regarding uncollectible amounts and assists in resolution of account receivables. Assists in the annual closeout of the research financial accounting ledger. Records deferred revenue and receivables accrual at year end close, as required. Assists in the coordination and resolution of the annual A-133 audit and periodic site audits and reviews conducted by sponsoring agencies.

Monitors indirect cost recovery according to award terms and condition for assigned sponsored accounts. Performs the indirect cost distribution process as required.

Serves as expert resource for university personnel. Provides guidance to distributed university research staff as appropriate to the level of responsibility inherent in the position.

Participates in training for faculty, staff and students. Cross-trains to understand responsibilities of Senior Institutional Officers. Once trained, handles core responsibilities of that position as needed and directed by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and four years of university or non-profit/government fiduciary experience; or a combination of training and related experience. One year supervisory experience required.
