Your responsibilities

The BOP equipment engineer is responsible for specification, coordination, and problem resolution with regard to all non-thyssenkrupp Polysius North America, Inc. equipment that is purchased out of our Atlanta office. This position requires a highly organized individual with the ability to coordinate and make decisions based on their impact on layout, schedule, and budget.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work on proposals and projects gathering and generating all necessary documentation related to BOP equipment.
  • Review client specifications and the vendors ability to meet these or negotiate exceptions.
  • Generate and review technical specifications for all non-thyssenkrupp equipment for the submittal of RFQs considering thyssenkrupp Polysius North America, Inc., and client specifications.
  • Generate QRs and PRs.
  • Maintain clear communication with project managers, engineers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate drawing reviews for successful bidders among the necessary engineering departments.
  • Coordinate change orders as necessary throughout the design process as design changes are required.
  • Some field investigations may be required on a limited basis.
  • Resolve construction and commissioning issues that arise regarding any BOP equipment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will have no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Your profile

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree with 10+ years pertinent industry experience.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Involvement working with some of the following equipment: bulk material movers, fans, blowers, bag houses, pneumatic conveying systems, and burners.
  • Experience reviewing and marking up drawings.
  • Possess superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Interact positively with the client, project teams, equipment suppliers, field services, and office staff.
  • While commercial negotiations are not part of the duties of this job, a BOP Equipment Engineer must be able to resolve issues in a way to minimize schedule and costs impacts.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of equipment in cement and minerals processing plants including but not limited to, bulk material movers, fans, blowers, bag houses, pneumatic conveying systems, and burners.
  • Experience working with an international company.
  • Willingness to coordinate across multiple time zones.
  • BASIC AutoCAD skills and exposure to 3D
  • Exposure to SAP
  • Proprietary Software

Travel Demands:

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Travel up to 20%.
