Department Information

This position is within our Institute Finance Support group, and intended to be part of a financial generalist team that will learn the basics of financial operations at Georgia Tech, then apply their skills to financial and administrative projects led by managers and executives within the Finance & Planning unit of Georgia Tech. This will encompass learning more about our financial system of record (Workday) and supporting tools and technologies, and understanding GTs financial policies and procedures. Analysts will provide support to a variety of projects that could range from supporting daily financial activities to analyses in support of institute-wide objectives. The intent of these positions is to provide an introduction to financial administration at Georgia Tech, then to transition individuals to open positions throughout Georgia Techs financial organization central administration, academic and research unit

This individual will work closely with other teams and individuals primarily within the Finance & Planning unit (), including Budget & Planning, Bursar & Treasury Services, Office of the Controller, Business Services, and Grants & Contracts.

Job Summary

Compile financial data and conduct basic analyses, reconciliations and projections in support of an academic, research or administrative unit. Prepare financially related reports. Areas of involvement may include costs studies, budget forecasts and pricing.

This position will interact on a consistent basis with: campus financial personnel.

This position typically will advise and counsel: campus financial personnel.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Gather and organize data pertinent to specific assignments

Job Duty 2 -
Prepare charts, graphs, schedules, report modules, etc. that adequately reflect assignment results

Job Duty 3 -
Provide explanations of methodology employed as required

Job Duty 4 -
Remain current financial reporting requirements, applicable regulations, processes, etc.

Job Duty 5 -
Perform required data entry, calculations, estimates, reconciliations, etc. consistent with assignment parameters

Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High School Diploma, GED Certificate, Vocational School Diploma, Technical Diploma; Associate's Degree or two years of college coursework.

Required Experience
Zero to two years of directly job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience
One year of direct job experience.

Proposed Salary

$23 to $31 hourly - The hourly rate will be commensurate with education and experience, This position receives full GT benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
Application of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices; basic financial analysis and forecasting techniques; use of financial/accounting related software.

Preferred skills: Application of specialized skills within a university or government agency environment; ability to apply knowledge of regulations and reporting requirements specific to area of involvement.
