Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in science, plus 0-2+ years of years of relevant technology transfer experience in either industry or academia.
Position Summary
The University of Georgia seeks an innovative Licensing Specialist with primary responsibility for evaluating invention disclosures, conducting market landscape analysis, and developing marketing materials. This position is within Innovation Gateway, UGA's commercialization program in the Office of Research, which encompasses the University's intellectual property licensing and startup support functions to ensure that research discoveries reach their full potential for public benefit. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter who is ready to assume a prominent role within a successful technology transfer oce.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for evaluating new inventions across a wide spectrum of disciplines and completing technology evaluation reports which involves:
    • Prior art searching
    • Review of IP Protection options
    • Market/IP landscape analysis

  • Maximize the commercial potential of technologies by developing a commercialization plan which includes market research, authoring and publishing marketing materials, and identifying potential licensees.

  • Coordinate with Postdoctoral Licensing Fellows on technology evaluation, market research, drafting marketing materials, and other IP-related projects.

  • Partner with Licensing Managers to contribute to the management and licensing of university intellectual property in various stages of development
