Overview

M&H Valve is seeking Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Operator for our 1st shift Machine Shop operation. Experience in driving a sit-down PIT in a fast-paced, industrial setting preferred.

The PIT Operator drives gasoline, liquified gas, or electric-powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials by performing the following duties.

Pay: $22.16

Responsibilities
    1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
  • Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.
  • Uses proper lifting and ergo techniques.
  • Proactively promotes The McWane Way Principles.
  • Reads work orders or receives oral instructions to determine work assignments, material or equipment needs.
  • Conducts daily inspection of equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the production area.
  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device and drives lifting device from one location to another.
  • Inventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device.
  • Lubricates truck, recharges batteries, fills fuel tank, or replaces liquified gas tank.
  • Handles movement and storage of hazardous waste material from location to location.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be trainable to drive a PIT or other lifting device and able to maintain license to drive lifting device.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
