SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for coordinating inpatient pharmacy operations and the activities of pharmacists, technicians and support staff during the day, evenings and weekends. Through staff, responsible for ensuring medication orders are safe and appropriate; that drugs are stored, prepared and delivered to patient care areas according to generally accepted professional standards; and collaborating with nurses, providers and other staff to ensure safe and effective procurement, storage, preparation and dispensing of medications. Also responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant state and federal laws and regulations, Joint Commission Standards and Grady Health System policies and procedures. Assists in the maintenance of pharmacy inventory. Performs related duties as required by The Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) is required.
• 2 years experience as a practicing pharmacist in an acute care setting.
• Previous supervisory or management experience desirable.
• Must be familiar with professional and commercial phases of pharmacy.
• Understands the role of the Pharmacy Department in a hospital organization and its relationship with other departments.
• Should be familiar with basic principles of supervision, staff evaluation and staff motivation.
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with various groups of healthcare professionals.
• Must be a Licensed Registered Pharmacist.
