This position requires skilled training and work experience in baking pastries and bread in an institutional dining operation as well as catering operations. Ensures food quality, including tasting food for quality control. Assists in supervising and/or instruction of Baker I staff in baking activities, cleaning equipment and facilities.

Job Duty 1 -
Prepare daily production list and verify bakery staff follow all recipes and portion control.

Job Duty 2 -
Monitors and enforces food sanitization & safety standards.

Job Duty 3 -
Ensure all culinary production areas are clean and organized.

Job Duty 4 -
Ensure adherence to sanitation rules and regulations.

Job Duty 5 -
Guarantee preparation of a wide variety of desserts and bread items from scratch.

Job Duty 6 -
Ensures food quality, including tasting food for quality control.

Job Duty 7 -
Train and supervise, Baker I, student and temporary staff working in the bakery.

Job Duty 8 -
Ensure recipes are followed to provide consistent baked goods.

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma

Required Experience
Two to three years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience to include one year of supervisory experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Current ServSafe Certification

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or two years college course work in the Culinary Arts or related program

Preferred Experience
Four or more years of job related experience

Recruiting Range (34,083.00 - 51,643.00) Based on experience

ABILITIES
Must have open availability to include nights and weekends. The ability to follow oral and written instructions, work with diverse population, take direction required.

KNOWLEDGE
This job requires experience in preparing bakery items from scratch, decorating and frosting cakes, and recipe scaling.

SKILLS
This job requires good customer service skills to include being courteous and dependable; working knowledge in baking pastries, cakes and/or breads in a commercial kitchen environment.
