Overview

Apply your experience with environmental, biodiversity, and landscape GIS workflows to help our Living Atlas of the World team build new and dynamic content. The Living Atlas is the largest geospatial data collection in the world, is widely used across the ArcGIS platform, and is fast becoming the backbone of web GIS. You will help identify key datasets from national and global sources and publish those as web services, as well as work with high profile clients to shepherd their data into the Living Atlas.

In this role, you will also work with content leads who are developing solutions, applications, blogs, and creating geospatial learning opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a project team leading the development of complex, state-of-the-art systems that simplify access to critical environmental data and support sustainable design around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Test and deploy web layers, maps, and application products to ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World
  • Curate contributed content to the Living Atlas to ensure the products are of high quality, well documented, and highly useful and usable by the GIS community
  • Develop processes to analyze and automate the update of complex datasets, including remotely sensed, in-situ, or modeled sources
  • Work in a collaborative team environment on large-scale projects
  • Provide subject matter expertise to staff and customers through participation in focused projects and development sprints
  • Identify key clients and teach them the state-of-the-art techniques and workflows

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in modern GIS workflows, including publishing complex feature layers or imagery web services
  • A passion to learn and launch new content quickly and work in a fast-paced, team-focused development environment
  • Experience using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Python Notebooks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's in GIS, geography, environmental, or related fields

Recommended Qualifications

  • Master's in GIS, geography, environmental, or related fields
  • Experience with landscape ecology, biodiversity, and suitability analysis
  • Experience building StoryMaps to help create place-based narratives

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$85,280$128,960 USD
