Community Outreach to Veterans

The mission of the State Approving Agency is to inspect, approve, and supervise programs offered by qualified educational institutions, training establishments, and tests for licensing and certification for veterans, eligible persons, or reservists, under the standards and provisions of Title 38, U.S.C., Chapters 30, 32, 35 and 36.

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans. The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvements in the legislation process.

The Army Career and Alumni Program (ACAP) was created by the Army to provide world-class transition and job assistance services to the Soldiers and civilian employees and their family members who have selflessly served their nation. The program is mandated by Congress and embedded in Army and DoD policy.

Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling and outreach services to all veterans who served in any combat zone. Services are also available for their family members for military related issues. Veterans have earned these benefits through their service and all are provided at no cost to the veteran or family. The Department of Veterans Affairs Vet Center program operates a system of 232 community based counseling centers. The Vet Centers are staffed by small multi-disciplinary teams of dedicated providers, many of which are combat veterans themselves.

Our mission is to promote the welfare of Blind/Visually Impaired Veterans so that, notwithstanding their disabilities, that they may take their rightful place in the community and work with fellow citizens toward the creation of a peaceful world. To preserve and strengthen a spirit of fellowship among blinded veterans so that they may give mutual aid and assistance to one another. To maintain and extend the institution of American freedom and encourage loyalty to the constitution and laws of the United States and of the states in which they reside.
