Albany State University, a historically black institution in Southwest Georgia, has been a catalyst for change in the region from its inception as the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute to its designation as a university. Founded in 1903 to educate African American youth, the University proudly continues to fulfill its historic mission while also serving the educational needs of an increasingly diverse student population.

Benedict College will be a power for good in society. We will be a full opportunity college with high quality programs of teaching, research, and public service. Claflin University is a comprehensive institution of higher education affiliated with the United Methodist Church. A historically black university founded in 1869. Claflin is committed to providing students with access to exemplary educational opportunities in its undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs. Claflin seeks to foster a rich community comprised of students, faculty, staff, and administrators who work to nurture and develop the skills and character needed for engaged citizenship and visionary and effective leadership.

The mission of Clark Atlanta University is to provide a quality undergraduate, graduate and professional education to a student body that is predominantly African-American and also diversified by students from various other racial, ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. As an institution grounded in the liberal arts, the University is committed to the development of productive and creative students who excel in their chosen careers and who become responsible citizens in their communities and the world.

The mission of Fort Valley State University is to advance the cause of education with emphasis upon fulfilling commitments that our community members have undertaken collectively. As an institution of the University System of Georgia, Fort Valley State University naturally embraces the principles articulated by the Core Mission Statement for State Universities as approved by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) is a consortium of denominational seminaries whose mission is to educate Christian leaders for ministry and service in the Church and the global community. The ITC educates and nurtures women and men who commit to and practice a liberating and transforming spirituality; academic discipline; religious, gender, and cultural diversity; and justice and peace.

The mission of Morehouse College is to develop men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership and service. A private historically black liberal arts college for men, Morehouse realizes this mission by emphasizing the intellectual and character development of its students. In addition, the College assumes special responsibility for teaching the history and culture of black people. Founded in 1867 and located in Atlanta, Georgia, Morehouse is an academic community dedicated to teaching, scholarship, and service, and the continuing search for truth as a liberating force.

The mission of the MPH Program is to prepare individuals to organize and implement programs to improve the health, quality of life and well-being of communities and people, through instruction, research, and service in public health. The program has a particular emphasis on people of color, minorities, and other underserved populations.

Morris Brown College, established in 1881 by the African Methodist Episcopal Church to serve the educational needs of African-American young men and women, is a historic institution with a unique offering on today’s educational horizon. Morris Brown is proud of its tradition of serving the educational needs of the best and the brightest young minds, while simultaneously providing educational support to students who might not otherwise receive the opportunity to compete on the college level.

The Mission of Paine College, a church-related private institution, is to provide a liberal arts education of the highest quality that emphasizes academic excellence, ethical and spiritual values, social responsibility, and personal development to prepare men and women for positions of leadership and service in the African American community, the nation, and the world.

The mission of Saint Augustine's College is to sustain a learning community in which students can prepare academically, socially and spiritually for leadership in a complex, diverse and rapidly changing world. To fulfill the mission, the faculty fosters scholarship and creativity through varied approaches to teaching and learning; the administration facilitates the enterprise by effectively garnering and managing financial and human resources; and the staff contributes to efficient operations by providing essential support services.

South Carolina State University, a senior comprehensive teaching institution, is committed to providing affordable and accessible quality undergraduate and graduate degree programs. This public university with a student population between 4,000 and 5,000 is located in Orangeburg, an area that has a traditional rural, agricultural economy which has expanded to include a business and industrial focus that is national and international in scope.

Our goals include integrating and globalizing learning, teaching creatively and rigorously, leading from our authentic core, living sustainably, improving ourselves continuously, and collaborating to better our city’s quality of life. These ambitious GOALS and others build on our accomplishments as the premier historically Black college for women and one of the finest institutions for undergraduate education nationwide.
